A comedy night featuring sketch, improv, character, physical and musical comedy, hosted by Leslie Bloom.
Extra Topping is running its comedy showcase at Sweet at The Yellow Book on Saturday 18 July, and it's one of many dates they've got lined up over the next year. The night is built around sketch, improv, character, physical and musical comedy, and they describe it as 'comedy, but it ain't stand-up' — the whole point is to put on acts that are 'just that little bit different' from the usual mic-and-stool format. If you're more into a sketch or a character piece than a standard stand-up set, this is exactly the kind of night that fits.
Running the show is Leslie Bloom, a character described as incredible, insatiable and incorrigible, who balances roles as a fitness instructor, mother, investigator and occasional tarot card reader. Bloom hosts the night live, so you'll get them as the thread that holds the different acts together.
It's a regular fixture rather than a one-off, so if you can't make the 18 July date, there are plenty more to choose from. The showcase returns on 15 August, 19 September, 17 October, 21 November and 19 December this year, and then continues into 2027 on 16 January, 20 February, 20 March, 17 April, 15 May, 19 June, 17 July and 21 August. That's fourteen nights in total, so there's plenty of room to find a date that works for you.
