Liverpool piano-driven progressive rock trio Exploring Birdsong play A L P H A B E T on Dyke Road.
Exploring Birdsong play A L P H A B E T on Friday 19 February, with the night presented by Lout Promotions. They're a piano-driven progressive rock trio from Liverpool, fronted by Lynsey Ward's vocals, with Jonny Knight on bass and keyboards and Matt Harrison on drums.
They've been around since September 2017, and they built their sound on 70s pioneers like ELP, Genesis and Kate Bush, alongside more modern progressive acts like Tesseract and Steven Wilson. It's a piano-led approach to prog, so the keys sit right at the front rather than tucked into the background. Ward also sings for Espera, and the trio have supported Katatonia and Sleep Token, played the main stage at RADAR and Euroblast, and put on sold-out headline shows at London's St Pancras Old Church.
They're stepping into a new era with the single Romanticise, which they describe as a richer, more expansive and mature evolution of their sound. It follows a run of singles from 2024: The Collapse, Weight in Gold, All I Lack and Sitch. If you've followed them since those, Romanticise is the latest piece of the puzzle.
