Late summer beach party with disco, funk and house music, headlined by Brighton DJ J Felix.
English Disco Lovers are back on the seafront on Friday 18 September, their late summer beach party taking over The Tempest in the Kings Road Arches. It's their first Brighton date since that sold-out night in May, and this time they've got J Felix on the bill.
If you're not familiar with the name, J Felix is a Brighton institution. He's a producer, musician and DJ who's been around the city's scene for years, and he's a long-time friend of the Disco Lovers. He's played Love Supreme, Soundwave, We Out Here and Nova Batida, and he once supported Nile Rodgers and Chic alongside English Disco Lovers resident Sam Moffett. His CV reads like a who's who of funk and soul: he's worked with George Clinton of Parliament/Funkadelic, Soul II Soul, Gilles Peterson, Alice Russell, the Hot 8 Brass Band, Roy Ayers and Incognito, and he's been a long-time artist on the Brighton label Tru Thoughts. He'll be sharing the night with Moffett, so the two of them will be running the decks together.

As for what they're playing, they describe it as classic and underground disco, funk and house, brought to the beach and under the stars. It's the kind of set that leans as much on the well-known floor-fillers as it does on the deeper cuts, and with the seafront setting, it's built for dancing late into the night. The party kicks off at 21:00 at The Tempest, 159-161 Kings Road Arches, BN1 1NB, with earlybird tickets starting at £5 plus booking fee.
