The band started in 2022, following a series of improvisation sessions between Alain Johannes and Barrett Martin. Since then, they have been working on two debut albums, recording in locations as diverse as Washington, England, Iceland, Brazil, California, Chile, and Spain. Their international approach to recording is reflected in their sound, which they define as a mix of alternative rock and world music. It is not a standard rock set-up; they incorporate a broad range of instrumentation. Alongside the expected guitars, bass, and drums, they use instruments like the oud and qanoon from Arabia, and Andean instruments including the charango, ronroco, quena, and tiple. The percussion section is equally varied, featuring the surdo, frame drum, vibraphone, and marimba.
The line-up includes Peter Buck, the founding guitarist of R.E.M., alongside British singer-songwriter and guitarist Duke Garwood. Alain Johannes, who founded Eleven and has worked with Queens of the Stone Age, is involved, as is Barrett Martin, the drummer and composer known for his time with Screaming Trees and Mad Season. They are joined by percussionist Lisette Garcia and Kelsey Mines, who completes the current formation.
The event takes place at Chalk, located at 13 Pool Valley, BN1 1NJ. Doors open for the show at 18:30, and the performance is scheduled to finish at 22:00. Tickets are priced at £33.00, and the venue has set an age restriction of 14+ for the evening.
