Drag in the Park

Drag in the Park returns to Brighton Open Air Theatre for its fifth season, with four dates spread across the summer: 2 May, 27 June, 31 July — that one's the Pride Edition — and 4 September. Each show starts at 19:00, so you've got a few different windows to catch it depending on when you're around.

It's billed as the theatre's infamous drag show, an alfresco extravaganza that brings camp and glamour to the lawn. The format is pretty straightforward: queens belting ballads in the bushes and lip-syncing in front of the crowd. It's an outdoor show, so you're watching from the grass rather than a traditional seat, and the whole thing runs for about 135 minutes. Doors open an hour before the start, which gives you plenty of time to get settled before things kick off.

The nights are hosted by Alfie Ordinary, an award-winning, internationally renowned local drag performer who welcomes some of the best drag artists from around the UK to the open-air stage. The show is recommended for ages 16 and over, so it's one to keep in mind if you're thinking of bringing a younger crowd along.

Tickets are £15 full price and £12.50 for concessions, with a group rate of £50 for four people if you're heading down with a few others. The venue is Brighton Open Air Theatre (BOAT), tucked away in Dyke Road Park on Dyke Road, Brighton and Hove, BN3 6EH.
