Evening of Japanese whisky from Nikka, food from Moshimo and live shakuhachi music by Geoff Hearn.
Moshimo is hosting a Japanese whisky dinner on Thursday 3 December, from 19:00 to 22:00. It's built around Nikka, one of Japan's biggest whisky names, and the whole night pairs their bottles with food from Moshimo's kitchen.
The main draw is a tasting of six different whiskies from the Nikka range: Coffey Grain, Coffey Malt, Miyagikyo, Taketsuru, Yoichi, and From the Barrel. Each one comes with its own matched plate, so you're working through the bottles and the menu together rather than having a drink and a meal separately. There are vegan options throughout, which is handy if you're not eating meat or dairy.
Running alongside the tasting is live shakuhachi, the traditional Japanese bamboo flute, played by Geoff Hearn. The flute is a distinct, breathy sound that sits well with the Japanese theme of the night, and since it's live, it'll be playing through the evening rather than as a separate performance.
