Dick Valentine plays Brighton Brunswick on Wednesday 7 October, and it's an acoustic set. If that name doesn't ring a bell, it's the stage name of Tyler Spencer, the singer-songwriter from Pittsburgh who's best known as the frontman of the Detroit funky-rock band Electric Six.
Electric Six built their sound on 1970s and 1980s disco and funk, all held together by deep bass grooves with a rocky edge. Their discography runs through the 2003 hit album Fire, 2006's Senor Smoke, and their seventh studio album Zodiac. This date is billed as an acoustic set, so it's a stripped-back version of the frontman on his own rather than the full band.
