Concert by the solo project Dekker, presented by Folklore Sessions, part of the 'Man on the Mend UK Tour'.
Dekker plays The Folklore Rooms on Saturday 20 February, part of the Man on the Mend UK tour. It's a Folklore Sessions night, so he'll have support on the bill. The show starts at 7:30 PM.
Dekker is the solo project of American songwriter Brookln Dekker, who's now based in Nottingham. He spent years touring internationally with the indie folk duo Rue Royale before stepping out on his own, and this Brighton date is one stop on the Man on the Mend run. He describes his songs as being for the in-between moments, blending raw acoustic textures with subtle electronics to create music that feels both intimate and infinite. It's a sound that sits somewhere between the stripped-back and the atmospheric, with the acoustic guitar providing the core and the electronics filling in the gaps around it.
He's been at it for a while now, with a string of quietly beloved releases and a steady, shapeshifting evolution behind him. He describes this current stage as a new chapter that leans deeper into feeling, form and atmosphere, so the set should draw from that more recent work. If you've followed him from the early days, you'll hear how the sound has shifted; if you're coming to him fresh, it's a good place to start.
