A triple bill of contemporary dance work exploring female archetypes, purpose, and the complex role of women, presented as part of Brighton Fringe.
If you are looking for something a bit different to do this weekend, there is a triple bill of dance happening at The Dance Space on May 3rd. The event, titled Days, Purpose, Otherwise, is part of the Brighton Fringe and brings together work from the Project Female Dance Company, Project Flux, and Varndean College Dance. It is essentially a showcase of three distinct pieces that look at the female experience from a few different angles.

The programme kicks off with The Purpose, choreographed by Ellie Bishop-Williams, Lottie Barton, and Pip Sayers. This piece focuses on the invisible forces that can shape or hinder a woman’s path toward her potential. Following that is Imagining Otherwise by Flexer & Sandiland. This one uses digital projections on the floor to explore the idea of parallel experiences and movement ecologies, which sounds like a more technical approach to the theme. The final piece, Letting The Days Go By by Chess Dillon-Reams and Lisa Watkin-Stevens, rounds out the evening by examining female archetypes and the concept of 'home' through a feminist lens.
The event runs from 19:00 to 21:00 at The Dance Space, located at 2 Market Square, Circus Street. Tickets are priced at £14.50. It is a straightforward setup: three different choreographic perspectives on similar themes, presented in a local venue. If you have an interest in contemporary dance or are just curious about how these specific companies are interpreting these topics, it might be worth checking out.
