Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young: An Evening in Laurel Canyon comes to The Brunswick on Wednesday 10 February, a tribute to the songwriting that defined the West Coast sound of the sixties and seventies.
Laurel Canyon was a secluded hillside community overlooking LA's Sunset Strip, and for a few decades it became the beating heart of a musical revolution. It was a place where songwriting giants gathered, collaborated, and shaped the sound of a generation. The names that came out of it are a who's who of the era: James Taylor, The Byrds, America, Eagles, The Doors, Carole King, Jackson Browne, Cat Stevens, Linda Ronstadt, CSNY, and Joni Mitchell. This show is built around that community and the music they left behind.
A live six-piece band performs the night in two parts. The first half celebrates the wider spirit of Laurel Canyon, drawing from that whole list of artists. The second half focuses on Crosby, Stills & Nash and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, diving deeper into their specific sound. The band describes what they're aiming for as raw, intimate, and timeless.

If you're not familiar with the history, the whole thing is a nod to that golden age of songwriting, with the second half keeping the focus on the harmonies and songs of CSNY.
