A night of riotous riot grrrl punk and post-punk featuring French duo Clitosaurus along with Twat Union, ASS, and Daffodildos at Pipeline.
On Sunday, 12 April, the Pipeline on Little East Street is hosting a night focused on riot grrrl and post-punk, featuring a line-up that leans heavily into political and social activism. The main feature of the evening is Clitosaurus, a duo from France whose music is a mix of 90s alternative rock, cold wave, and riot grrrl. They’ve built their sound around a style they describe as "spontaneous vulva rock," which essentially translates to a direct, energetic critique of patriarchal norms. Their performance brings a specific blend of genres that should feel familiar to anyone who follows the more confrontational side of the post-punk scene.

The supporting acts add a fair amount of variety to the bill while staying within the same DIY ethos. Twat Union will be travelling from London to bring their chaos punk sound to Brighton. They are joined by two local groups: ASS (Antifa Supersoldier) and Daffodildos. ASS operates within the punk and post-hardcore space, while Daffodildos are known for their queer DIY anthems. Their lyrics often tackle systemic issues, specifically focusing on anti-capitalist and anti-cis-heteronormative themes. Having these three bands alongside Clitosaurus creates a cohesive programme for those interested in the intersection of music and social commentary.
In terms of the practical side of things, the event takes place at 6 Little East Street, right in the heart of Brighton. Doors are set to open at 7:30 PM, although it’s worth noting that some schedules have mentioned a 5:00 PM start time, so checking closer to the date might be useful. For those looking to attend, tickets are available for £8.50 in advance. If you prefer to decide on the day, entry at the door will be £10. It’s a standard setup for the Pipeline, providing a space for the city’s LGBTQIA+ and feminist punk communities to gather around a line-up that is quite explicit about its influences and goals.
