Exhibition celebrating the 60th anniversary of Captain Scarlet with rare memorabilia, models and collectables.
Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons is coming to the Brighton Toy and Model Museum on Saturday 10 July 2027, an exhibition marking the 60th anniversary of the series. It opens that Saturday and runs for twelve months, so you've got plenty of time to fit it in.
For those who need a refresher, Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons was created by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson and first broadcast on ITV in September 1967. Set in 2068, it follows Spectrum, the World Government's organisation for global peace, at war with the non-corporeal Mysterons, who use 'retro-metabolisation' to recreate matter. The indestructible Captain Scarlet himself was made after a disastrous first contact mission on Mars, and the show ran across 32 half-hour episodes. You'll remember the Angel fighter squadron and the Trinidadian communications expert Lieutenant Green aboard Cloudbase, Spectrum's aerial headquarters.
The exhibition is co-curated by Malcolm Garrett MBE, trustee Steve Crump OBE, and Jamie Anderson, in partnership with Anderson Entertainment. The show's title sequence art was by comic artist Ron Embleton, who also drew the characters' adventures for the weekly comic TV21 alongside Mike Noble. Gerry Anderson, best known for Thunderbirds, Stingray, and Space 1999, was awarded an MBE in 2001.

The venue is the Brighton Toy and Model Museum, located at 52-55 Trafalgar St, Brighton and Hove, BN1 4EB. It's set in four Victorian cellars under Brighton railway station and holds more than 12,000 objects charting British and European toy-making. The exhibition opens Saturday 10 July 2027 and stays on for a full year.
