A live, multi-sensory musical experience featuring the music of Adele performed by Weddington Strings under candlelight.
The Royal Pavilion is hosting a performance on Saturday, 4th April, that brings together the music of Adele and the atmosphere of a space lit by candles. Starting at 19:00, the event, titled Candlelight: A Tribute to Adele, moves away from the typical concert hall vibe to offer a different setting within the historic walls of 4-5 Pavilion Buildings. It is a live musical experience where the Weddington Strings quartet takes centre stage to reinterpret some of the most well-known pop songs of the last decade through classical instrumentation.

The programme for the evening is quite extensive, covering a lot of ground from Adele’s discography. You can expect to hear the strings perform 'Hello', 'Rumour Has It', and 'Make You Feel My Love', alongside 'Water Under the Bridge' and 'Oh My God'. The setlist also includes 'Someone Like You', 'Send My Love (To Your New Lover)', and 'Chasing Pavements', as well as the cinematic 'Skyfall'. By stripping back tracks like 'When We Were Young', 'Set Fire to the Rain', 'Easy On Me', and 'Rolling in the Deep' to just a string quartet, the focus shifts to the melodies of the songs. The candlelight setup is designed to complement the music, creating a specific visual backdrop that changes the way the room feels during the performance.
In terms of the practical side of things, tickets are generally priced around £26.50, though it is worth noting that these prices are indicative and can fluctuate. The seating arrangement is handled by assigning spots on a first-come, first-served basis within whichever zone you have reserved. For those planning to attend as part of a larger party, the organisers accommodate groups of up to 30 people, and there is even the option to book private concerts. It is a way to experience the Royal Pavilion in a different light while listening to a repertoire that many in Brighton will already know.
