The annual World Naked Bike Ride returns to Brighton, starting at Preston Park with a seven-mile route through Brighton and Hove, celebrating bikes, bodies and low-impact living while protesting climate change.
The Brighton World Naked Bike Ride returns to Preston Park on Saturday 12 September, part of a global event that takes place in more than 50 cities. It's a mass ride that gathers people to celebrate bikes, bodies and low-impact living, while protesting fossil-fuelled climate change and car-dominated streets. It also highlights both the vulnerability of cyclists and their strength in numbers.
Participants ride 'as bare as they dare' — fully nude, in swimwear or creatively decorated. In the UK public nudity is legal, and children are welcome when accompanied by an adult carer. In past years up to a thousand cheerful participants have joined in, with music, flags and plenty of smiles along the way. The route runs around seven miles through the city, and the day traditionally closes with an informal beach after-party at Black Rock, weather permitting.
