Second International SBK Summer Festival with workshops, shows and social dancing in three rooms covering salsa, bachata and kizomba.
The Brighton SBK Festival takes over Marina Studios on 29 and 30 August, the second International SBK Summer Festival from Salsa Zone and Brighton Fiesta Latinos. They ran a May bank holiday edition that nearly sold out, and this August one is a bit of a different beast: more workshops, a wider variety of dance styles, and performances alongside international instructors and performers. The name itself gives it away โ SBK stands for salsa, bachata and kizomba, the three styles that run through the whole weekend.
That's also how the venue is set up. The festival runs across three rooms, one for salsa, one for bachata and one for kizomba, so you can drift between them and pick your own path through the day. If you're there for the learning, the workshops run from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. If you're there for the dancing, the social party kicks off at 7:00 PM and goes until midnight. The performances are woven in too, with the international instructors and performers taking the floor.
