London-based Irish four-piece Bleech 9:3 play emotive, 90s-influenced heavy alt-grunge at Chalk in Brighton.
Bleech 9:3 play Chalk on Wednesday 21 April, their only Brighton date that spring. They're a London-based Irish four-piece, and the sound they're bringing is heavy alt-grunge with a strong 90s lean. If that's your thing, it's a straightforward one: distorted guitars, raw vocals, and a set that doesn't shy away from the louder end of things.
They describe their music as emotive, built around themes of recovery and addiction. It's not just a wall of noise, though — they talk about a sound that's as evocative as it is crunchy, gliding between sharp, irrepressible melodies and heavy blasts of distortion. That's the core of it: the melodies hold their own against the heavier moments, and the raw vocals sit right in the middle of the two. It's a four-piece band, so it's a full live sound on the night.
