Billy Lockett, a pianist from Northampton, performs live at St Mary's Church in Brighton.
Billy Lockett plays St Mary's Church on Friday 5 February 2027, starting at 7pm. He's a pianist from Northampton, and this is a solo show — just him and the piano.
There's a bit of a story to how he got here. Lockett has lived in Northampton all his life, and he started playing at the age of eight in his basement. He describes that room as being full of old slot machines, canvases, board games and band equipment, and he says he hasn't stopped playing since. It's a nice image to hold onto: a kid in a basement surrounded by a jumble of old things, just sitting at the keys. That's where it all started, and he's been at it ever since.

On the night, it's just Lockett on the piano, so the evening is built around his playing. If you're into solo piano, this is exactly the kind of thing that works in a church setting. The church is St Mary's, at 61 St James' Street, BN2 1PR, in the heart of Brighton. Tickets start from £20, and the music kicks off at 7pm on Friday 5 February.
