Benoit Viellefon Hot Club performs a mix of 1920s-1940s music, including gypsy swing and French numbers.
Benoit Viellefon Hot Club, a firm favourite at elegant venues across the country, is coming to play at The Brunswick in Brighton-Hove. The Hot Club's performances are inspired by the hot swinging music that emerged from the Parisian Cafes and nightclubs of the 1930s and 1940s. The repertoire includes a mix of 1920s-1940s music, featuring gypsy swing numbers made famous by Django Reinhardt, the romanticism of the finest French numbers, and a nod to American jazz virtuosi like Louis Armstrong and Sidney Bechet. The line-up often features world-class musicians on guitar, double bass, clarinet, and tenor saxophone. The event is a concert of hot jazz, French music, and timeless melodies. Doors open at 7pm.
