A laid-back day on the lawns at One Garden Brighton featuring live music by the Stanmer Band, street food from Tallow Street and Kenny Tutt, and face painting.
One Garden Brighton is running a full weekend of things to do for the August Bank Holiday, from Saturday 29 to Monday 31 August, with the lawns open for anyone to just turn up and hang out. It's the big one for the garden this month, and it's free to get in, so you don't need to book ahead.
There's live music throughout the weekend, with the Stanmer Band playing on Monday 31st. On the food side, Tallow Street Food will be there on Sunday 30th and Monday 31st, and Kenny Tutt's Street Food residency runs all weekend. If you're bringing the kids, there are face painters from Saturday to Monday, 11am to 3pm.
For context, One Garden Brighton is a walled garden in Stanmer Park that was rediscovered, reinvented and opened to the public for the first time, restored and managed by Plumpton College. They describe it as one of Sussex's most unique destinations for food, nature, creativity and community, combining landscaped grounds with independent shopping, a café serving seasonal dishes and locally roasted coffee, and the newly opened Sussex Butterfly Garden. It's meant for everyone, inspired by the past and reinvented for the modern urban garden, with the aim of inspiring visitors to grow their own veg and garden for future climates. Their calendar is built with the community in mind, and the lawns are laid out as space to relax on.
