A workshop exploring the elderberry superfood, covering its history and health benefits, with tastings of tea, tincture, syrup, cordial and an Elderberry Orange Spritz.
All About Elderberry Tasting is at Alchymis in Brighton on Thursday 22 October. It's a tasting session built around the elderberry, a UK native superfood that's packed with vitamins and minerals: C, B, A and K, along with iron and antioxidants.
The workshop walks through the plant's health benefits, its history and its traditional uses, so you'll get the context before you start tasting. From there, you'll try elderberry in several different forms: as a tea, a tincture, a syrup and a cordial, and the whole thing finishes with an Elderberry Orange Spritz. It's a good way to see how the same berry works across a few different preparations, rather than just having one drink and calling it a day.

If you've spent any time foraging or looking into native plants, you've probably come across elderberry, but this is a chance to actually taste it in a few different ways and hear about what it's used for. It's a single-plant focus, so the whole session stays on the elderberry from start to finish. The tasting runs through tea, tincture, syrup and cordial, and then the Spritz to close it out. Tickets are £24.00.
