AI: Hope, Hesitation or Hype

AI: Hope, Hesitation or Hype comes to the Brighton Dome on Tuesday 24 November, a University of Sussex debate that pulls together researchers from across the university to look at artificial intelligence from a few different angles. It's held in the Studio Theatre, and the whole thing is run in partnership with the university.

The evening is moderated by Tom Smith, and the panel brings together people from consciousness, computer science, business, education and the arts and humanities. That's a wide spread of disciplines to be talking about the same subject, and the idea is to explore AI and its implications for our collective future from those contrasting perspectives. The line-up includes Ödül Bozkurt, Tanya Kant, Thomas Nowotny, Keith Perera and Anil Seth.

As for how it actually works, the night runs through short talks, a lively panel discussion and an audience Q&A, so you'll hear the different viewpoints laid out first and then get a chance to join in with the conversation. It's one of those evenings where the format lets you see the same topic from several different directions rather than just one side of the argument.

It starts at 18:30, with doors opening at 17:45. Tickets are £15, or £11 for concessions, and Brighton Dome and Brighton Festival members save £2 on the full price.
