A family day celebrating diaspora communities through food, workshops and performances at the Brighton Dome.
African Night Fever are taking over the Brighton Dome for a Family Day on Saturday 7 November, an open-door version of what they usually do. If you haven't come across them before, they're a Brighton-based organisation that celebrates the city's diaspora communities through workshops, performances and global cuisine. The Family Day is built around the everyday histories of the people who bring the venue to life, so it's as much about the community behind the scenes as it is about the food and the music.
It's part of the Dome's new family programme for autumn and winter, a season of theatre, comedy, crafts and community events for all ages that runs through the winter and into the festive period. The whole thing kicked off on 12 September with the stage adaptation of CBeebies favourite In the Night Garden, and the Brighton Dome Comedy Festival returns during half term. The producer, Slavka Jovanovic, has highlighted a mix of local, national and international artists across the season, so African Night Fever fits into a wider run of things to do with the kids over the next few months.

As for the day itself, it's built on the same things they're known for: workshops, performances and food from around the world, all under one roof. It's free to attend, so it's an easy one to drop into without worrying about tickets. If you're looking for something to do with the family on a Saturday in November, it's a good shout.
