An evening of atmospheric jazz with the Blue Cafe Trio, featuring voice, harp, guitar and piano.
The Blue Cafe Trio are playing St Mary's Church on Saturday 26 September, with the set running from 18:00 to 19:00. It's an hour of jazz in the middle of the city, and the line-up brings together voice, harp, guitar and piano.
On stage are vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Magdalena Reising, guitarist Shane Hill and pianist Terry Seabrook. The trio blends those four sounds into a single, elegant jazz sound, and they build the evening around mellow grooves, expressive melodies and refined musicianship. The set mixes jazz standards and song with improvisation and carefully crafted arrangements, so you'll hear familiar territory alongside the more open, improvised side of the music.

It's a relatively short session — an hour on a Saturday afternoon — so it's an easy one to fit in. The church is at 61 St James' Street, BN2 1PR, right in the heart of Brighton. Standard tickets are £5.00, which is a guide price. If you're after a bit of jazz on a Saturday, that's the one.
