Canadian stand-up comedian Tom Stade performs his latest show Rules at Bournemouth Pavilion, exploring the absurdities of modern times.
Tom Stade brings his new show Rules to the Bournemouth Pavilion Ballroom on Friday 30 October, starting at 7:30pm. It's a brand-new hour that comes straight from the Edinburgh festival, and the title gives you a fair idea of where it's headed. Stade spends the set taking aim at the absurdities of modern life, working his way through rebellion, responsibility and the tension between the old and the new. He pulls apart everything from unspoken social codes and cultural divides to identity and marriage, dismantling them and then redefining them as he goes.
If you haven't seen him before, Stade is a Canadian stand-up who's spent the better part of two decades touring the UK to sold-out rooms. He's been called a 'Messiah of Mirth' and one of the most original talents to hit the comedy scene, and critics have compared him to Keith Richards: 'If comedy is the new rock 'n' roll, Tom Stade is Keith Richards'. He's now largely based in the UK, and this is a show that carries that long-term familiarity with the place.
He's been a regular at the Edinburgh Fringe since his debut there in 2006 with And Relax, playing the festival every year since. He also recorded the one-hour special Stade And Confused for the Comedy Network. Beyond the Fringe, he's appeared on Have a Word Pod, Channel 4's Comedy Gala, Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow, The John Bishop Show and twice at Live at the Apollo.
