A live concert with storytelling, archive visuals and a band performing Simon & Garfunkel's songs.
The Simon & Garfunkel Story is coming to the Bournemouth Pavilion on Friday 18 September. It's a tribute show that traces the origins and the rise of the duo, with a full live band performing their songs throughout. The set includes 'Mrs Robinson', 'Cecilia', 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' and 'Homeward Bound'.
It's not just a concert, though. The music runs alongside a storytelling element, with large projection photos and original film footage on screen. The band plays the songs live while the visuals follow the duo's history, so you get the story of the two of them told in parallel with the music they wrote. The whole thing is built around their biggest hits, and the band performs them in full rather than as a medley.
The show has toured internationally, playing in over 50 countries, and has had more than 20 headline runs in London's West End, including several at the London Palladium. Art Garfunkel himself has praised the production, and critics have described it as authentic, exciting and as good as perfection. It's a well-travelled show, so it's a known quantity rather than a new experiment.
