The Magic of the Bee Gees

The Magic of the Bee Gees comes to the Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre on Saturday 10 October, a tribute show celebrating the music of the Bee Gees. It's a night built around the songs of the Gibb brothers, and the setlist pulls from the hits they wrote for themselves as well as the ones they penned for other artists.

On the familiar side, you'll hear the disco-era tracks that defined their sound: 'Night Fever', 'Stayin' Alive', 'More Than a Woman', 'You Should Be Dancing' and 'How Deep is Your Love'. The show takes you through the brothers' classic hits across the sixties, seventies and eighties, so it's not just the dancefloor numbers — the earlier, softer material gets its space too. The production uses light and video to carry the music through those three decades.

One thing that often gets overlooked is how far the Gibbs' songwriting reached beyond their own records. They wrote for a huge range of artists, including Celine Dion, Diana Ross and Dolly Parton, and the show keeps that in mind. It's a tribute to the songwriting itself as much as the recordings we all know.
