A modern, narrative-driven tap dance production by RB Dance Company that explores themes of control and creativity through the story of Icarus.
RB Dance Company bring their tap show Stories to the Bournemouth Pavilion on Saturday 7 November, one stop on a nationwide tour. It's a modern, narrative-driven production rather than a loose collection of numbers, and it centres on Icarus, a young actor trapped under the control of a powerful film director. A cast of ten dancers brings it to life, fusing tap dance with urban jazz set to an original score.
The company was founded in 2018 by Romain Rachline Borgeaud, who set it up to revitalise tap dance through ambitious, large-scale narrative productions. Stories was their first, and it's since been seen by over 300,000 people across Europe, picking up three awards at Les Trophées De La Comédie Musicale along the way. The company first made a name for itself reaching the finals of France's Got Talent in 2018 and again in 2024.
Borgeaud himself trained at The Ailey School in New York and has choreographed for some big productions, including the revival of Les Misérables at the Théâtre du Châtelet and the opening ceremony of the 2016 Champs Elysées Film Festival. That background in both the dance world and larger theatrical stages is what Stories is built on.
