South Coast Muscle Fuel Open Day

South Coast Muscle Fuel is holding an open day at its Tuckton shop on Saturday 29 August, with a barbecue and product samples on the day. It's a new independent butcher in Bournemouth, run by husband and wife Mike and Claire, and the open day is one of the first chances to see the place properly open for business.

The shop is a bit of a blend of their two backgrounds. Mike brings years of experience from the meat industry, while Claire spent 15 years working in childcare before moving into management. Together they've gone for a family-run business they say is suited to the way people shop and eat now, with a focus on making high-quality meat more affordable. They secured the Tuckton premises on 31 July and spent the following weeks on a full refurbishment, which is a bit of a shift from their original plan to operate solely online.

Inside, they're doing more than just the usual counter service. You'll find individual cuts, protein boxes and personalised meat packages, and there's an online option for local home delivery by refrigerated van. They've also built links with gyms across Bournemouth and Christchurch, signposting customers to training, nutrition and product advice, so it's as much about how you use the meat as what you buy. The open day on 29 August is a good spot to get a feel for how it all works, with the barbecue and samples giving you a taste of what they're stocking.
