Pop Up Choir Event with Amy Hopwood

Amy Hopwood is leading a pop-up choir at B.A.D. Boscombe Arts Depot on Saturday 26 September, from 15:00 to 16:00. The whole hour is spent learning how to sing the song from her animation River and fish, and you don't need any previous experience to join in.

Hopwood is a Bournemouth-based musician and artist who works across a few different mediums at once. She writes, sings and produces original folk songs, playing tenor guitar, banjo, accordion and fiddle, and pairs them with handmade drawings, embroidery, needle-felted characters and stop-motion animation. Her work draws on folklore, fairytales, psychology, nature and the trials of being human, and River and fish is one of the pieces that comes out of that. She's also one of the artists in the current exhibition What Emerges, which is running at the same time.

The session is organised by the Bournemouth Education Arts Foundation, and it's open to everyone, so you can turn up and sing along even if you've never been in a choir before. It's a single song, taught from scratch over the hour, and you'll be learning it directly from the person who wrote it.

It runs from 15:00 to 16:00 at B.A.D. Boscombe Arts Depot, which is in the TJ Hughes unit of the Sovereign Shopping Centre, 616-622 Christchurch Road, Boscombe, BH1 4SX. Workshop tickets are £5, and free tickets are available for those with low income, outsider artists, asylum seekers, refugees and vulnerable migrants.
