An 11-piece live band with four vocalists recreates more than 30 Northern Soul classics in a high-energy live performance.
Northern Live are bringing Do I Love You to the Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre on Sunday 28 February 2027. It's a tribute to Northern Soul, the dancefloor culture that started in the North of England and eventually spread across the country, and the show is built around the music that defined it.
On stage is an eleven-piece live band, fronted by four vocalists, and they're working through more than 30 Northern Soul classics in a single set. That's a fair few songs to fit into one evening, and with a band that size, it's a full live sound rather than a small ensemble. The set is described as a recreation of the original sounds of the movement, so the focus is on the records themselves rather than a reimagining of them.
Northern Soul grew out of the dancefloors of the North, and the show is billed as a live experience that keeps faith with those original sounds. The eleven-piece band and four vocalists recreate the rhythm of more than 30 classics, paying homage to the artists and musicians who are forever etched into vinyl. It's a long set that covers a lot of ground, with the vocalists sharing the lead across the different tracks.
