A contemporary dance double-bill by PCK Dance featuring 'VESSEL' and 'In the Absence', with live music by composer Sean Pett.
PCK Dance bring their double-bill Into the Light to Pavilion Dance South West on Friday 18 September, with two pieces sharing one evening. The company was founded by choreographers and performers James Pett and Travis Clausen-Knight, both former dancers with Company Wayne McGregor, and the Critics' Circle has named them one of the UK's leading independent companies. They've toured across Europe, Asia and the Americas, and their work is known for a visceral movement language and cross-art productions that bring together dance, live music, sculptural LED light design and striking visual landscapes.
Into the Light pairs VESSEL and In the Absence. In VESSEL, three dancers move within sculptural constellations of LED light that pulse, black out and reappear, hinting at the tension between human survival instincts in an AI-driven future. In the Absence works as a metaphor for grief, transition and renewal, with two dancers navigating memory and loss across a vast mirrored floor of fragmented confetti. Composer Sean Pett mixes sound live, in dialogue with the dancers, so movement, music and light reshape each other in real time.
