A three-day music event featuring global vinyl sets, live electronic performances and ambient soundscapes using a custom-built analogue hi-fi system.
Sam Edwards is taking over Patch at Bobby's in Bournemouth town centre from Friday 2 to Sunday 4 October for a three-day music event. The whole thing is built around Hearing Colours, a custom analogue hi-fi system Edwards made himself. He's an alumnus of the BA (Hons) Modelmaking course at Arts University Bournemouth, and he put the system together using precision CNC milling at the university's Innovation Studio. It's a build that brings together audiophile acoustics, global vinyl culture and visual projection art, and it's the centrepiece for the entire weekend.
Each day has its own focus. Friday is about global vinyl sets — deep house, disco and garage — with live analogue oil-wheel projections by Moodz. Saturday shifts to hardware-only live electronic music, with synths, drum machines and live drums. Sunday winds it down with chilled ambient soundscapes, Rob da Bank, Goan small plates and a chai bar. If you're only around for one night, you can pick the one that suits your mood: the dancefloor on Friday, the live gear on Saturday, or the slow-down on Sunday.

The weekend is also the closing act for the Arts by the Sea Festival and Fringe, AUB's programme of creativity that showcases the work of its alumni, students and short-course participants through community workshops, pop-up gallery exhibitions, live music and sustainable fashion across Bournemouth. Hearing Colours is one of those alumni projects coming back to the town, and it's the final event of the festival. It runs from Friday 2 to Sunday 4 October at Patch at Bobby's in the town centre.
