Bluey's Big Play

Bluey's Big Play comes to the Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre from Thursday 6 August to Sunday 9 August 2026. It's a stage adaptation of the Emmy-winning children's series Bluey, and it's not just a retelling of an old episode. The show features an original story written by the series creator, Joe Brumm, with new music by Joff Bush. The Heeler family is brought to life with puppets, and the production is by Andrew Kay and Cuffe & Taylor in association with Windmill Theatre Co for BBC Studios.

The story follows Bluey and Bingo as they try to get their dad off the sofa using games and a bit of cunning, while he just wants a quiet afternoon's rest. It's a family show, and babies from 0 to 18 months are welcome—they share a seat with a paying adult, so you don't need a separate ticket for them. Broadway World gave it five stars and promised 'full chair dancing and shrieks of joy', which is a fair hint at the kind of energy to expect in the room.

There are plenty of times to choose from over the four days. On Thursday 6 August, there's a 10:00 am show. Friday 7 August also has a 10:00 am performance, and that's the one with BSL and audio description. Saturday 8 August runs three shows: 10:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 4:00 pm. Sunday 9 August follows the same pattern, with 10:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 4:00 pm. If you're taking a group of ten or more school children, tickets are £15.50 each, and the eleventh one goes free.
