A moving and cathartic contemporary dance double bill featuring works by National Dance Company Wales, including Theo Clinkard's Ordinary Courage and Alesandra Seutin's Untamed.
National Dance Company Wales bring a double bill to Pavilion Dance South West on Friday 13 November, two contemporary dance works paired together in one evening. It's part of the venue's autumn programme, a Bournemouth-based season that mixes theatre shows and social dances and keeps family-friendly productions at its heart.
The first half is Ordinary Courage, created by Theo Clinkard in 2012 and remade with the company. It's set to a score that brings together Scarlatti and Bach, and Clinkard describes it as a sincere reflection on grief, loss and the quiet strength of human connection. The second half is Untamed, a new 2026 work by Alesandra Seutin, an Olivier Award nominee and Sadler's Wells Associate Artist. It's rooted in the human urge to run and set to a driving soundtrack that takes in traditional Welsh instruments and ancestral voices.
Between them, the two pieces cover a fair bit of ground: one a quiet look at loss and connection, the other a more driving, physical piece built around the impulse to run. They're performed back-to-back by the same company, so you get two distinct moods in a single night.
