A durational immersive work of seduction, sensuality and striptease by Ewa Dziarnowska, exploring attraction and the body within the Fierce Festival 2026 programme.
Ewa Dziarnowska brings This resting, patience to Eastside Projects this weekend, on Saturday 17 October at 3:00 pm and Sunday 18 October at 12:00 pm. It's her UK debut, and it's part of the THIS IS DANCE programme within Fierce Festival 2026.
This resting, patience is a durational immersive work that sits somewhere between seduction, sensuality and striptease. Dziarnowska describes it as part ghostly repository of unconsumed sensuality and part somatic striptease, and it works its way through attraction, voluntary objectification, proximity and the aesthetics of bareness. It's the kind of piece that doesn't just sit still; it upsets the passivity of installation and the dramaturgical resolution of performance, moving away from the tradition of viewing dance as an alienated spectacle to emphasise its immanent sociability. For Dziarnowska, sensuousness and dancing are timeless, democratically available technologies of undoing the world.
The work is supported by the Polish Cultural Institute and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute. It's one of many performances making up Fierce Festival 2026, an international contemporary performance festival staged across Birmingham and framed around the idea of 'more is more' — more collaboration, cross-pollination, experimentation and camaraderie. The festival brings together performances, works-in-progress and artist-hosted meals known as 'Fierce Feasts' by artists from around the world.
