Monthly night of original music and poetry with full bands and solo acts across two stages at The Dark Horse in Moseley.
The No Covers Club returns to The Dark Horse on Wednesday 28 October, the latest in its monthly run of nights in Moseley. The premise is right there in the name: it's a space for writers of original music and poetry, so you won't hear any cover versions here. Everything on the bill is written by the people performing it.
What sets it apart from a standard open mic is how it's put together. The night works across two stages, and the booking mixes full bands with solo performances, so the bill can shift from a loud, plugged-in set to a single voice and a guitar in the space of a few acts. It's as much about the poetry as the music, too, with both sharing the same platform.
Because it's a monthly thing, it's a regular fixture in the Moseley scene rather than a one-off. If you're into original songwriting and spoken word, it's one of the more consistent spots in the city for that.
