Night of metal with power metal's Thaumblast, thrash metal's Mount Slatra and groove metal's Shadow Company at Scruffy Murphy's.
Thaumblast, Mount Slatra and Shadow Company share a bill at Scruffy Murphy's on Saturday 7 November, with the night billed as a three-way deathmatch between power metal, thrash and groove metal. It's three distinct styles of metal on one stage, so if you're into any of them, you've got a good reason to be there.
Mount Slatra are the local connection here — a British thrash metal band from the West Midlands. They first came to a wider audience after being featured in the BBC Sounds documentary series Forging Metal, where they appeared alongside Tony Iommi and Rob Halford. In 2025, they put out their debut EP, Divine in Ruin, which picked up positive reviews from the underground metal press. Since then, they've supported US thrash titans Warbringer on their UK tour and made it to the Grand Final of Metal 2 The Masses Birmingham. If you've followed the local scene over the last year or two, you've probably come across them.
They're joined by Thaumblast, who bring the power metal side of things, and Shadow Company, who handle the groove metal. Between the three, you've got the melodic sweep of power metal, the speed and aggression of thrash, and the heavier, rhythmic focus of groove metal, all on the same night. It's a fair bit of ground to cover in one evening.
