Sunday of R&B, soul, reggae and Afrobeats with selectors Lee Drummond and DJ Riley and street food at Alfred Works in Digbeth.
Smart Casual returns to Alfresco at Alfred Works in Digbeth on Sunday 25 October, running from 16:00 to 22:00. The afternoon is built around RNB, Soul, Reggae and Afrobeats, with Lee Drummond and DJ Riley on the decks and more selectors to be announced. It's a Sunday session that starts in the late afternoon and carries through into the evening, so you can roll in whenever suits.
Behind the night are Lovell Ebanks, who goes by Babyface, and Michelle J Richards. They pitch Smart Casual as a Sunday where the music sits right, the food hits warm and the crowd brings a mature, good-vibes atmosphere. The 'The Journey Continues' framing presents it as a space where the music lifts, the food comforts and the whole thing feels like a treat, aimed at people who appreciate ease, warmth and understated sophistication.
It's not just about the music, either. The selectors are paired with fresh, flavourful street food available to buy on the night, so you can eat and drink while the selectors work through the RNB, Soul, Reggae and Afrobeats that define the sound. Between the two confirmed DJs and the additional selectors yet to be named, the music is the main draw, and the food is there to keep you going.
