Ska and Two-Tone tribute band Skabucks return to the Joe Joe Jims stage for a night of maximum Ska and Two-Tone.
Skabucks return to Joe Joe Jims on Saturday 12 December, their first night back at the venue since they last played there. It's a tribute to the original 60s ska and the two-tone revival that followed, so the set pulls from both eras. If you're not entirely sure where that leaves you, it's the upbeat, off-beat sound of the Jamaican imports and the British bands that took it on later.
They're a Bromsgrove band, formed in 2008, and they've put in a fair amount of work since then — well over 1,000 gigs. Along the way they've shared stages with The Pogues and The Move, worked with members of The Specials, and headlined a good few large music festivals. They describe themselves as 'badass mother-funkers delivering the top end of maximum ska and two-tone', which gives you a decent idea of the energy they bring to the stage.
