West End musical about the six wives of Henry VIII, nominated for five Olivier Awards, at the Hippodrome Theatre.
Six opens at the Hippodrome Theatre on Sunday 25 October, with the run continuing until Sunday 1 November. It's the West End musical that's built its name on a pretty specific premise: the six wives of Henry VIII take to the mic to tell their own tales, remixing five hundred years of historical heartbreak into an 80-minute celebration of 21st-century girl power.
If you're not familiar with the setup, it's exactly what it sounds like. The six women who shared the same husband get their turn in the spotlight to set the record straight, each with her own song and her own version of how things went down. It's a pop concert in disguise, and the whole thing clocks in at just over an hour, so it's a fairly easy evening to fit in.
The show has a fair bit of pedigree behind it, too. It picked up five Olivier Award nominations, including Best New Musical, and has been described as a sellout international smash hit. It's a production that started in the West End and has since toured, so by the time it reaches the Hippodrome, it's a well-worn piece of theatre.
