Musical show celebrating 100 years of movie musicals, with songs from 'The Wizard of Oz', 'Singin' in the Rain' and 'West Side Story' performed by the duo Pulman & Stilgoe.
Pulman & Stilgoe bring Hooray for Hollywood to The Studio at Birmingham Rep on Saturday 24 April, a show that looks back over a century of movie musicals. It's presented by Highfield Productions Ltd.
The set weaves together songs from The Wizard of Oz, Singin' in the Rain, West Side Story, Wicked and dozens more, running through comedy, romance and nostalgia. It's performed by the duo Pulman and Stilgoe with two voices, one piano and a 'Century of Song', and it deliberately eschews the big screen, relying instead on their harmonies and the music. The whole thing runs about an hour and 55 minutes, including an interval, and is suitable for all ages, though no under-5s are admitted. It's drawn strong reviews along the way, with a Jazz Journal reader calling it 'the best show I've seen this year'.
