Massi's Yard Brunch

Massi's Yard Brunch is back at Pushkar Cocktail Bar & Dining on Saturday 28 November, running from 12:00 to 17:00 with last entry at 16:00. It's a five-hour club session rather than a traditional brunch, so it's more about the dancefloor than the food. Seating is first-come, first-served, and there's a complimentary rum punch served in the first hour, which isn't included in the ticket price.

Massi's Yard bills itself as the UK's first event of its kind. It was started in December 2021 by Shannti and the Taste + Liquor Group, and it's built around British South Asian music and culture from the 1990s and 2000s. The music is a mix of classic Bollywood, Bhangra, Desi Beats, R&B and hip hop, all from that same era.

It's a celebration of the time when British Asian culture sat at the heart of the mainstream. The organisers point to things like Goodness Gracious Me and Bend It Like Beckham as the cultural backdrop, and chart-toppers like Jas Mann's 'Spaceman' as the kind of sound they're drawing from. If those names ring a bell, you'll know exactly the era they're talking about.

Standard tickets are £18.00 or £20.00, and there are VIP booths for £24.50 per person for groups of 8 to 14. It's over-18s only, and you'll need ID to get in. The venue is Pushkar Cocktail Bar & Dining, 245 Broad Street, Birmingham B1 2HQ.
