Live gig by indie-punk band Keg, playing their new album 'Relaxing Near the Hospital' at Hare And Hounds Kings Heath.
Keg play Hare And Hounds Kings Heath on Thursday 12 November, with the night starting at 19:30. They're an indie-punk band known for frenetic live performances and for refusing to settle on one sound, and they've spent the last six years building a bit of a name for themselves.
They've put out two critically acclaimed EPs, Assembly in 2021 and Girders in 2022, before their debut album Fun's Over broke into the top 75 of the overall album charts. That one got support from BBC Radio 6 and Radio X, and earned them a DIY 'Class of 2023' slot. Since then they've played live arenas and festivals across the UK and Europe, including Greenman, Latitude, Dour and Vida.
Their new album, Relaxing Near the Hospital, is where the refusal to stick to one sound really comes through. It runs from hefty chunks of hardcore to Steely Dan-leaning croonerish tracks, and it's drawn comparisons to Ween. If you're familiar with that band, you'll know the kind of thing they mean: a record that jumps between styles rather than smoothing them over.
