Jonathan Pie, the UK's angriest news reporter, returns for a brand-new live comedy show taking on global geopolitics, climate collapse and culture wars.
Jonathan Pie is back at The Alexandra on Wednesday 21 October, with a brand-new live show called The End of the World According to Jonathan Pie. If you've come across him online, you'll know the character: the UK's angriest news reporter, known for the sweary, uncompromising monologues that have made him a viral hit.
Pie is a creation of actor Tom Walker, who first brought him to life in September 2015 when he famously 'lost it' outside the Houses of Parliament. He's been co-written by comedian Andrew Doyle since December 2015, and together they've built the act out from those early videos into live shows, television, and radio. One of their responses to the US election result gathered over 130 million views. Born out of Brexit-era frustration, the character's delivery was so convincing that millions of people mistook him for a real reporter.
After sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Fringe and international tours across the US and Australia, this new show takes on everything global geopolitics is throwing at us: climate collapse, AI, culture wars, and looming global conflicts. There's a personal angle to this one, too — Pie spends the show coming to terms with the horror of Keir Starmer's Labour and the fact that he voted for it, while Reform waits in the wings and Elon Musk pulls the strings.
