Adults-only theatrical retelling of the Dick Whittington story, with a disco, bed and breakfast and afternoon tea included.
The Dick Whittington Weekend takes over the Holiday Inn Birmingham M6, JCT.7 from Saturday 14 November, 14:00, through to Sunday 15 November, 11:00. It's a full residential weekend built around a theatrical retelling of the Dick Whittington story, and there's one thing you need to know before you book: it's strictly for over-18s. This isn't a family panto, so leave the kids at home.
The show itself follows Dick Whittington, whose pussy has gone missing, as he arrives in London in search of his soulmate. He does it while still dressed as a pantomime Principal Boy—skirt and long boots included—much to the bewilderment of the locals. Sarah the Cook, Idle Jack, King Rat and Alice all turn up along the way, and the whole thing is played for an adult audience rather than a school crowd.
It's more than just the show, though. The weekend is built around the performance and a disco, with bed and breakfast and afternoon tea included in the price. You're staying on-site at the Holiday Inn, so you can go from the show to the disco and back to your room without leaving the building. It's a proper getaway rather than a one-night out.
