Chuck Prophet plays live with his quartet, including Stephanie Finch, at the Glee Club in Birmingham.
Chuck Prophet plays the Glee Club Birmingham on Tuesday 1 December, performing as the Chuck Prophet Quartet with Stephanie Finch. It's a San Francisco-based singer, guitarist, songwriter and producer who first made his mark as the youngest member of the 80s college rock band Green on Red. When that group faded in the early 1990s, he began performing with his future wife, Stefanie Finch, and releasing independent records; his solo debut Brother Aldo arrived in 1990, followed by Balinese Dancer (1993) and the Steve Berlin-produced Feast of Hearts.
After a decade of struggling with substance abuse, he returned with the critical breakthroughs Homemade Blood (1998), The Hurting Business (2000) and the live Turn The Pigeons Loose (2002). By 2000 he was recording the side project Go Go Market with Finch and adding electronic influences, which led to wider distribution for albums such as No Other Love (2002) and Age of Miracles (2004). He signed with Yep Roc for 2007's Soap and Water, played twice on National Public Radio and appeared on Late Night with David Letterman, The Carson Daly Show and The Late Show with David Letterman.
