Spoken-word performance by poet and autism clinician John Biddulph, who combines spoken word with electronic sound to explore neurodiversity, perception and identity.
John Biddulph brings Case Notes: the clinic of perception to Craft & Culture on Saturday 30 January, a spoken-word performance that sits somewhere between poetry, theatre and experimental music. Biddulph is a poet, spoken-word artist, composer and autism clinician, and he combines his spoken word with subtle electronic sound to look at neurodiversity, perception and identity.
He draws on his work as a psychologist, musician and writer to take the language of clinical assessment and diagnosis and turn it inside out. From there he moves through autism and other neurodivergent conditions, sensory difference, language and social justice. Each case-note poem is paired with a companion case study that explores the condition from a lived-experience perspective, so the clinical side of things is always balanced by a personal one.
