Stand-up comedy show paired with a tasting of six premium beers, for beer lovers and beginners alike, for ages 18+.
An Idiot's Guide to Beer comes to Alfresco at Alfred Works on Saturday 14 November, a stand-up comedy show that pairs a comedy set with a curated tasting of six different premium beers. It's performed in English by a local comedian, and the whole thing is pitched for beer connoisseurs and total beginners alike — the only real challenge, as the organisers put it, is not to spill your foam while you're laughing.
So, how it works: you get a comedy set and six premium beers to taste through the course of the evening. The tasting is the core of the night, and the comedy runs alongside it, so you're sipping your way through the flight while the set unfolds. It's designed to be accessible regardless of how much you actually know about beer, so if you've never tasted anything beyond a standard lager, you'll fit in just as well as someone who can talk hops and malts for hours.
Drinking is voluntary, and non-alcoholic drinks are available at an additional fee, though they aren't included in the ticket price. The show is for ages 18 and over, and you'll need a valid ID to get in. The venue is wheelchair accessible, too.
