Charles Way's play, an original take on Goethe's poem, directed by Paul McEneany and suited for ages 6+.
The Sorcerer's Apprentice is running at Cahoots NI's theatre in Cityside Retail & Leisure Park from 10 October to 25 October. It's Charles Way's play, an original take on Goethe's poem, and it's a co-production between Cahoots Theatre here in Northern Ireland and Buxton Opera House. Paul McEneany directs it.
It's had a fair bit of travel already. It premiered at Buxton Opera House in England before coming to Belfast as part of the Belfast International Arts Festival. From here, it's heading across the Atlantic to open at the New Victory Theatre in New York in January 2027. The Guardian gave it five stars, calling it 'a truly enchanting showcase of theatrical storytelling' that can make young audiences truly believe in the magic of theatre. It's suited for ages 6 and up, so it works as a family outing if you've got the little ones with you.
