Free session for chefs and hospitality professionals to hear about the Belfast Flavours School Food and Sustainability Pilot and how to improve children's menus.
Small Plates BIG Flavours is coming to The Academy Restaurant on Wednesday 28 October, a morning session for chefs, restaurant owners and hospitality businesses to talk about children's menus. It's part of Belfast Flavours' wider School Food and Sustainability Pilot, which brings together schools, pupils, chefs, producers and food industry partners to look at children's relationship with food and how their ideas could shape children's menus across the city.
The pilot launched at Cranmore Integrated Primary School with a Discovery Day and followed with a Sandwich Challenge on 19 October. This session is the next step, inviting the city's food professionals to hear directly about the project and think about how to create more varied, imaginative options for younger diners. It's less of a formal presentation and more of a conversation about how the industry treats the youngest people who walk through its doors.
On the panel are Stephen Ferris of Mount Charles Group, Lynsey Hollywood from Ulster University, Caroline Wilson of Taste & Tour and Ciarán McLarnon of The Focacceria. The whole thing is supported by Belfast City Council and the DAERA NI Regional Food Programme.
